Accessibility Statement

Last updated: September 2, 2026

Our Commitment

PEAC (ilc.peaconline.org) is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people of all abilities, including medical residents, faculty, and staff at our subscribing institutions. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards to achieve this.

Conformance Status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) define requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA.

PEAC is committed to conformance with **WCAG 2.1 Level AA**. As of July 1, 2026, newly published instructional modules and content have been tested using the WAVE accessibility evaluation tool and pass without detected errors. Because PEAC's content library includes materials developed over time by subject-matter authors, some older pages are still being reviewed and remediated as part of an ongoing effort.

Measures Taken to Support Accessibility

PEAC has taken the following measures to ensure accessibility:

  • Integrated accessibility evaluation (WAVE) into our content review process for all new modules
  • Remediated data tables to include properly associated header cells and visible scroll indicators for tables that exceed the viewport
  • Added programmatic titles and labels to informational SVG graphics (e.g., flowcharts, diagrams) so they are announced correctly by screen readers
  • Configured responsive image styles so embedded media scales and reflows appropriately across devices
  • Reviewed keyboard navigation and focus order across custom-built page components
  • Provided accessibility guidance and training to internal content authors
  • Assigned dedicated internal resources to accessibility evaluation and remediation

Known Limitations

Despite our best efforts, some content on PEAC may not yet be fully accessible. Known limitations include:

  • Some legacy instructional content (uploaded prior to July 1, 2026) is still being reviewed for full conformance
  • Some complex reference images and flowcharts are in the process of being converted from static images to accessible, structured formats
  • Third-party or externally linked content may not be under PEAC's direct control

If you encounter an accessibility barrier, please let us know using the contact information below, and we will work to provide the content in an accessible format.
